Harassment

Last modified 10/01/09 at 15:44

Harassment is a deliberate attack against a group or individual because of their race, sexuality, HIV/Aids status, age, mental health problem or disability. Sometimes there may be no obvious reason for harassment.

Please let us know if you are being harassed and we will do our best to help, by giving you advice, support and, where possible, taking action against the person or people harassing you. You should also report the problem to the police, who may also be able to take action.

Contacting us

If you would like to report an incident or incidents of harassment, you can do so on this website, using our harassment initial report form. Your personal details will be secure.

Alternatively, you can phone South Anglia Housing on 0845 600 1543 during office hours, to speak confidentially to a neighbourhood officer. If your call is urgent, or you are experiencing violence, or threatened violence, we would strongly advise you to contact the police.

You'll also find useful advice and contact numbers for dealing with anti-social behaviour on our Respect website.

For more information on dealing with harassment, please download our harassment information leaflet (PDF). (You will need Adobe Reader to view this. Download Adobe Reader)

How will South Anglia Housing handle my complaint?

If you contact us, we will:

  • provide an interpreter if you need one
  • investigate incidents and agree with you what we will do
  • repair damage to your home and remove offensive graffiti
  • offer you extra security, if appropriate, to make you safer in your home
  • help you to make contact with other agencies who can provide support and assistance
  • keep in close contact with you and discuss at every stage what will happen
  • advise you of the options for moving if you are not able to remain in your home.

We will consider taking action against the person or people harassing you, but only if you agree. We need strong evidence to take legal action and you may need to help us provide this.
