The housing association’s team decided to help the school when they heard about the recent arson attack which destroyed their outbuildings and toy storage. Together with the Apollo team, Roddons arranged for it to be set up in the school’s backyard and handed it over to the excited pupils yesterday morning.
Debby Bunn, Head of Customer Services for Roddons Housing Association, which is part of leading housing provider Circle Anglia, said: “It was great to be able to present the Wendy House to the pupils this morning. We are very pleased that we can help the school as part of our commitment to enhance Life Chances and make a positive difference to the community.”
Mrs Gill Thomas, Headteacher at Westwood Community Junior School, added: “The staff and children of Westwood Junior School would like to say a big thank you to Roddons for their very generous gift of a playhouse. We have lost a lot of games and equipment in the fire and are very grateful that you chose our school.”
The children commented: “We are very lucky to have such a lovely gift.” “We love it more than chocolate.” “We can’t wait to have fun playing in it.” “We want to have a tea party in it.”
To give the play house a more personal touch, it was decorated by Roddons’ staff as along a Circus Theme. The colourfully painted house, decorated with balloons, formed part of the housing association’s entry at the March Summer Festival Circus Parade last weekend.
