Rent arrears

Last modified 07/01/09 at 12:41

If you are finding it difficult to pay your rent it is very important that you contact us immediately. We understand that problems can arise and we will help and advise you as much as we can before things get out of hand.

However, we will take firm action if you fall behind with your rent and do not talk to us.

If your rent isn’t paid we will write to you or call at your home. If the debt continues to rise, and you haven’t made a satisfactory arrangement to pay the arrears, we will start legal proceedings which will involve you in more cost. If a repayment agreement is broken we will start legal proceedings. We will serve a formal notice that we may seek a possession order for your home.

If no payment is made we will then:

Apply to the County Court for a possession order and a money judgement for the arrears. If, once the possession order is obtained, the arrears are still not reduced, we will apply for an eviction warrant.
