Building futures at the construction centre

Mo Cessay was working in a gym when he learned about the construction training course run by Old Ford Housing Association.

Mo CessayHe signed up and now he works for Old Ford helping to teach other youngsters on the course. Mo, aged 22, was really impressed with the range of different practical skills taught by the construction training centre.

He said: “This is a great course for giving a good overview so trainees can try lots of different things and then decide how they want to progress their career. There is a chance to get work experience and qualifications. I would recommend the course.”

Now Mo’s job is a workshop technician at the construction training centre. He helps the students with their practical and theory work. He is also on hand to help out with any jobs that need doing across Old Ford’s community buildings, such as putting up shelving.

Construction training centre tutor Leon Freestone said:” I am really pleased how this has worked out. Mo was one of the trainees who showed maturity during his time as a trainee on the course and because of this I felt he would be able to provide good clear information to the new crop of young trainees to follow.”
